Confirm the imported size
After importing, compare the width and height shown by the cutting software with the physical size in the SVG. Some software converts millimeters through a 96 DPI canvas, but the overall dimensions should remain unchanged.
Map the line types
Black solid paths are cuts. Coral dashed paths are folds and should become scoring operations when your machine supports them. Blue dotted paths mark glue folds or reference edges.
Attach score lines to the cut shape
Scoring paths can move independently unless attached or grouped with the surrounding cut object. Verify alignment in the mat preview before starting the job.
Run a paper test
Use low-cost paper and a light-grip mat for the first test. Check scale, score pressure and assembly before switching to final cardstock.
Choose the import format for your Design Space platform
Cricut’s upload instructions distinguish vector SVG/DXF from raster images and state that DXF is not supported in Design Space for iOS or Android. Use the instructions for your actual platform rather than assuming that a desktop import path exists on mobile.
Cricut’s unsupported-items guide also explains restrictions such as editable text in vector files. A successful import does not determine cut pressure, material suitability or assembly fit.
Start with the envelope generator, then review printing and scale. Keep the exported dimensions and the imported outline separate from a finished object.
