Paper: about 0.1–0.25 mm
Useful for checking shape and page layout. Thin paper folds tightly and needs little allowance, but it does not predict the stiffness of final stock.
Cardstock: about 0.3–0.7 mm
Common for gift boxes, card decks and lightweight packaging. Score cleanly and test lid clearance because doubled layers at corners add noticeable thickness.
Chipboard and corrugated card: 1 mm and above
Thicker board often needs wider fold allowances, different joints and specialized cutting. ExactFold provides a prototype starting point; production packaging may require a packaging engineer and material-specific tests.
Measure instead of guessing
Use calipers on the exact stock, including coatings or laminates. Make a small test fold and measure the finished result before a large run.
